About the person
Siavash Mahmoudi was just 16 years old when the criminal Islamic Republic’s security forces gunned him down on September 21, 2022, during the uprising sparked by Mahsa Amini’s murder by the regime’s “Morality Police”. His death was yet another brutal crime by the terrorist regime, but his mother, Leila Mahdavi, refuses to let his name be erased. Instead, she has become a fierce voice against the terrorist dictatorship, turning her grief into resistance.

Despite constant harassment and threats, Leila (Leyli) Mahdavi has never backed down. In August 2023, regime agents raided her home, stole her belongings, and ordered her to appear at Evin Prison’s notorious prosecutor’s office. But intimidation tactics haven’t silenced her. She continues to call out the regime’s brutality, exposing their crimes on social media and keeping her son’s memory alive. When Siavash’s tombstone was vandalized—an act of pure cowardice by the terrorist regime—she made sure the world saw it, proving that even in death, they fear those who stood against them.

Siavash Mahmoudi (16) was participating in peaceful protests in Tehran when he was shot in the head. His mother then took to the streets to protest against police violence. Even though she, like the other relatives of victims of police violence, was ordered by the security services to remain silent about her son's death.

Leila Mahdavi’s strength has turned her into a symbol of defiance, inspiring countless others to keep fighting for justice. No matter how hard the regime tries to bury the truth, she won’t let them. Siavash’s name, and the names of all the young protesters murdered for daring to dream of a free Iran, will never be forgotten.
